There is bass music for the main stage, and then there’s the creepy corners – THENNOW has a little bit of both on both release fresh out now. The Chicago-based solo producer has uunleashed a banging two-tracker, “TAKE” and his remix of Supertask’s “Get to You,” lands firmly in the second camp. Out March 27th via Tenatove, the release leans into detail, negative space, and low-end pressure instead of chasing fireworks for the drop-hungry crowd.

“TAKE” wastes no time explaining what it is about. The drums hit with that satisfying, rubbery weight and the FX are sliced tight enough that every little glitch and sweep feels intentional instead of decorative – yes. Rather than stacking sound on sound to fake “bigness,” THENNOW leaves room around the bass, delivering a different kinda angle that hit a different kinda way.

On the flip, “Supertask – Get to You (THENNOW Remix)” heads straight into late-night territory. The original vocal is pulled, stretched, and sent through reverb and delay until it hangs over the track like a fog, while the low-end grows darker and more physical underneath. Heavy handed, piercing – but tied down to the familiar aspects of the original, excellent.

Together, the tracks simply feed off each other. In the last several months, THENNOW has been on a tear of Bootlegs, remixes, originals, and flips. All leading to a strong 2026 being his starting spot.

Zooming out, the timing feels right. Bass in 2026 is scattered across subgenres and micro-scenes – one may even call it a transition period as old and new bass genres sort of ‘settle’ right now. THENNOW sits in the overlap: the tracks are geeky enough for producers to appreciate the mix decisions, but direct enough that a dancefloor does not need a tutorial to understand them. If he keeps releasing at this level, “TAKE” and the “Get to You” remix will likely be looked back on as one of the points where everything started to lock in.
