When SLANDER and Subtronics first teased their collaboration at Forbidden Kingdom in Orlando, the news went instantly viral With the “hype machine” generating online buzz for these unlikely collaborators, footage of the track was then captured again last month during Subtronics’ headlining Red Rocks show, Cyclops Rocks, raising the bar on expectations even higher. Now the mainstage bomb of a track has been fully fleshed out between the label helmers at Gud Vibrations and Cyclops Recordings, who went in for the joint release of “Gravity.”

After all, these are a couple of expert self-promoters with excellent marketing teams behind them.

“Gravity” calls up one of dance music’s most lauded singer/songwriters and frequent collaborator as JT Roach steps up to the mic. The responsibility is heavy, just like the track itself, but Roach rises to the occasion. His verses add immense weight to the already-leveraged piece with a magnetic topline depicting a love that’s impossible to move away from. The two low-end experts offset the delicate piano keys and soft guitar picking with a vehement dubstep drop infused with orchestral flavor. 

Calling the collaborative effort a “long time coming,” SLANDER elaborated how the track was specifically designed for their live back-to-back, which music fans will only catch at mainlined festivals.

Subtronics said he had a good cry upon completion of the joint, also opening up in a press statement about his first foray into working on a brand new music DAW called Kontakt. The Cyclops head honcho stated,

“I cried when we finished this one and I’m not exaggerating. It felt special. Producing and sound-designing is so meaningful and evolutionary to me – I learned I can do so much more than what I’ve been used to. Huge thanks to Slander for pushing me into a new dimension of sharing my art and emotions.…

‘Gravity’ was my first exploration into the music program, Kontakt, and I put serious effort into getting theatrical with the sounds. I spent days in disbelief at how well the orchestral parts came together and I still get bone-chilling rushes hearing them. The first drop makes me proud. Putting the “beep-boops” over the mid drop, then diving headfirst into melodics for the second, made this song feel like a new chapter of my life had opened.“
