Super Unnatural Brought the Spooky Dance Vibes to Phoenix

Halloween has come and gone and with that was Phoenix’s newest festival Super Unnatural featuring some of the hottest names in house and techno. The two-day festival really brought the house down with great music and production over its two days. It just being one stage also allowed everyone to take in everything the festival had to offer.

On day one, the festival featured the likes of Kyle Watson, Mau P, Four Tet, and Fisher. These are four heavy-hitters in the scene and none of them disappointed. Kyle Watson threw down his eclectic house sounds before Mau P came on and set the place on fire with his dancey tech house sound. Four Tet switched things up with his deeper and zanier sound. This was easily the most unique set of the weekend and something that everyone was in awe of. Fisher closed things out on day one and you all can imagine what kind of party that was. The whole house came down with his high-energy set that had people dancing straight though his set without any downtime.

Day two had its own unique spin after day one due to its different selection of artists. The day featured Nora En Pure, Armand Van Helden, Chris Lorenzo, and Dom Dolla. Nora En Pure started my night by playing a deep and progressive selection as the sun was setting. It was a beautiful time of pure bliss and was easy to get lost in. Armand Van Helden threw down all the classics you would have expected him to and it was just a straight fun time getting to dance and sing along to his hits. Chris Lorenzo brought the bassier sound that he is known for with some tech house sounds thrown in to make it a great shift from the previous two sets and moving into Dom Dolla who was another tech house party and a great way to wrap up the night and the festival.

Outside of the music, the new venue at Westworld in Scottsdale was fantastic. The stage was housed inside a megastructure which was perfect for this type of event. The crowd was also amazing all weekend and was completely into the music. You could tell that they were here for a reason and not just to party. Also, with it being Halloween weekend, the costumes everyone was wearing were great and added to the fun of the event.

Overall, Super Unnatural was a great time and something that I hope becomes a yearly event. The house and techno scene in Phoenix is alive and well and something that should keep seeing some love.

And we are in luck as during the event, Relentless Beats teased a new festival featuring a similar type of lineup coming in February. Details are coming soon so stay tuned!
