The @EvidenceAgainstBassnectar account intentionally manipulated public outrage against sexual abuse by promoting propaganda as fake ‘evidence’ to bolster the lie that they were supporting victims of sexual abuse—even though no victims existed, and they knew it.
Since the release of our article, with the news that Bassnectar has filed a lawsuit against DB Montana and several unnamed co-conspirators, we’ve been inundated with speculation about who else was involved in the EAB conspiracy. We’ve also received so much new information: from fans who were targeted and intimidated by the EAB mob, to DJs and promoters who were peer-pressured to virtue signal for self-preservation, to genuine survivors of abuse who suffered from the social violence of cancel culture.
We have seen overwhelming outrage at the facts that expose a man’s manipulation of #MeToo during chaotic times, and the women who got caught lying and pretending to be victims. The truth is that their lies exploited the ethos of a legitimate feminist movement, while so many people joined the cycle of destruction, and countless women were bullied into silence.
Our mission in exposing these awful facts was never for clicks. It’s fueled by our love for this scene and a desire to return to the truth. We care about everybody who makes up the electronic music community— even those of you attempting to discredit CE. The fact is, you are still part of this community because, if you weren’t, you wouldn’t be in the comments expressing your opinions. Still, there are so many niche bloggers, social media influencers, and major media outlets who are actively choosing to stay silent or attempting to change the topic. Those who have chosen to cover this breaking news are writing articles that try to virtue signal, rather than address the factual evidence. Because the truth is difficult to deal with:
This story exposed the ugly truth that some women have lied for self-benefit. The fact is that the women in this story intentionally pretended to be victims of sexual abuse, to exploit the #MeToo movement for personal gain. Sometimes the truth is ugly, making it all the more important to expose.
As a reminder, Part One provided irrefutable evidence of how this lie began. Yet, some online are refusing to believe it—often shifting the conversation and attempting to move the goalposts onto issues that do not matter as much as the facts that we exposed. Since CE’s inception, we have always been the underground blog that bassheads go to for insider information. You know it, we know it. And we have read all of your comments online, regardless of how cruel, derogatory, or angry. You have every right to be angry, but don’t shoot the messenger.
So you wanted the full screenshot evidence for more context? Well, here they are.
2017: Rebecca, Miranda, and DB are seen here all working together to push the lie, “Well, I was 17 going on 18.” In reality, Rebecca Polk was born in 1991 and met Bassnectar with Miranda Hughes in 2010.
2018: Rebecca, Miranda, and DB were all working together to push the lie, “Well, I was 16.”
June 26, 2020: Rebecca, Miranda, and DB were all working together to make the first post on @EvidenceAgainstBassnectar with the ‘evidence’—yet again—being the 2018 “Polk lie” that she was 16.
June 29, 2020: Rebecca, Miranda, and DB continued working together to concoct another post on @EvidenceAgainstBassnectar, recycling the lie about Rebecca being “17 turning 18.” This time around, all names were blacked out to create the appearance that multiple new victims were coming forward.
Their plan worked perfectly to trick the public and stoke the panic, confusion, and hysteria online, letting the comment section blow up. As one person added in the comments, “if there’s one allegation ok maybe if there’s multiple allegations it’s a trend.”
Note the wild animosity and outrage in the comment section, as people are tricked into believing that EAB has shared evidence of more victims coming forward. In reality, it was just the same old, recycled post from 2017 by and about the same exact person: Rebecca Polk, aka Becca. This led to intense public outrage against Bassnectar, along with distracting debates about ‘the age of consent’ regarding a victim who didn’t even exist. And EAB knew it.
As the mob grew more wild and irrational, one person menacingly commented, “Lynch mob!” The devastation that would unfold as a result of this intentional smear campaign was only just the beginning. You remember, you lived through it— whether you jumped on the bandwagon or were silenced into submission.
Even as this fire began to erupt, few realized that this had all started many years prior, with the dangerous obsession of an unhinged stalker and his calculated plans of conspiracy theories and character assassination. That’s what we uncovered in Part One: The Origin of A Smear Campaign. The story of a dangerous fan who would go to any lengths to destroy an innocent man, including doxing his home address:
But this story is so much bigger than the man who lied, or the innocent lives he tried to destroy. EAB launched an overwhelming campaign of cancel culture, which so many people latched onto without any factual evidence. DB Montana’s actions caused irreparable collateral damage to so many, and that’s what we will be exploring in Part Two.
In the meantime, we still have so much work left to do to finalize the Timeline. We still need to verify dates, timestamps, details, and properly sift through every piece of new, incoming evidence— such as this one we recently received, confirming when Miranda Hughes first reached out to DB Montana.
That’s where you come in: if you have any additional information about DB Montana or the women who lied about being victims — screenshots of posts, personal messages, firsthand accounts, or added context — please reach out to us on our socials. We’d love to include it.
Thank you all for your support— please continue sharing this with your friends, family, and loved ones for awareness. As we expose the women who lied and stole the spotlight from real survivors, the truth needs to be known. Too many people — from media outlets to music industry professionals — played a role in this harm, and too many are complicit in the cover-up. Don’t let them silence us.
