Robby East announced his new project last March: fwd/slash. His first release ‘Aural Therapy’ has made a great impact in the industry in a relatively short time. What’s the idea behind this project? Will it remain a side project, or does it have more potential? We spoke to Robby about fwd/slash, which he raises the temperature a lot with.

FNM: “First of all, your project fwd/slash has landed very well with us! How’s the feedback from your fans since ‘Aural Therapy’?“
fwd/slash: “Thanks a lot, good to hear! Their comments are very positive, especially on ‘Aural Therapy’. The streams are still blowing up on Spotify.”

FNM: “You’ve been successful with Robby East for several years now. What sound you couldn’t express, which you can with fwd/slash?“
fwd/slash: “The tracks I create as fwd/slash are a lot deeper, calmer and I focus on the piano. Besides that, I expect a lot from the Robby East project production-wise. I’m extremely critical, finishing tracks takes a lot more time because of that. Music from fwd/slash is much more spontaneous, it gives me a more creative and freer feeling.”

FNM: “You wrote on Instagram that you’re doing the project with ChillYourMind. What does that collaboration look like?“
fwd/slash: “ChillYourMind and I didn’t sign anything, but they believed in fwd/slash from the start and released ‘Aural Therapy’. It was just a token of appreciation that they’re brave enough to start up the project with me, haha!” 

FNM: “Aural Therapy is three months old now and you released more music since then. On what project will you focus more on in the future? Robby East or fwd/slash?”
fwd/slash: “My goal is to release with fwd/slash every month. We scheduled two more already for June and July on ChillYourMind. The focus will stay on Robby East, it must not suffer because of fwd/slash.”

FNM: “Will we see you doing live shows as fwd/slash? There must be a lot of sunny destinations ahead of you!” 
fwd/slash: “That would be awesome! Yes, I also imagine cool sets on the beach with good, chill music! I think there’s not much to call for at the moment, but It’d be great!”

FNM: “Last, but not least: summer’s about to show itself. Can we expect more music from you shortly?”
fwd/slash: “For sure! Like it said earlier, expect fwd/slash music and I’m about to drop a summer track as Robby East on ChillYourMind at the end of July!”
