With 2023 just around the corner, we wanted to reflect on the highlights of 2022. This time, we invited Ken Bauer to tell us more about what this year meant to him, what he learned, achieved and what are his plans for the holidays.
 

Hi, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. 2022 is almost over, we want to know what is your most important highlight of the year, both musically and personally?
 

Starting my weekly syndicated radio show Ken Bauer’s Power Hour and getting my own Spotify Editorial “This is Ken Bauer” playlist. 

What was your favorite release of 2022 (of your own)?

‘Rave Rider’.  

And what was your favorite track of the year from someone else? 

‘Heute Nacht’ by Maddix 

Did you have any special standout shows this year either that you played or attended? 

I attended the 10-year celebration of Protocol Recordings event at ADE and it was cool spending some time backstage with some of the biggest DJs out there. 

What was the biggest lesson you learned in life 2022? 

Never give up and always be nice and treat other people with respect and good things will eventually happen to you. 

And following on, what was the biggest lesson you learned in music? 

That less is more.  

If you could send yourself a message to you 5 years ago, what would it be and why? 

The same as above

How has your sound developed in 2022? 

I have been transitioning to Future Rave and been more and more influenced by different styles of Techno such as Melodic Techno and Big Room Techno. 

Who would you say was the most innovative artist in 2022?

Hardwell. 

Which label or labels do you think where at the top of their game in 2022? 

I have to push my own label “Future Rave Music”. We are supporting young and up-and-coming artists and a lot of our artists have been signed by bigger labels after releasing with us. For next year we have signed some established artists as well. So hopefully we will continue contributing to the growing Future Rave community. 

If any, do you have any regrets for the year behind us? 

No regrets, we can only learn from our mistakes and do better in the future. 

What are your plans for the holidays? 

Sleep, eat, play video games, repeat. 

Just for fun, if you had to take a classic Christmas song and remix it, what style would it be and what could we expect?

I have always wanted to do my own edit of ‘Jingle Bells’ and every year I say I am gonna do it. But I haven’t yet… Maybe next year. 

Where will you be spending New Year’s Eve?

At home in Stockholm, Sweden, with my family.
 

If you had to put 2022 into one sentence, what would it be?

Future Rave Music.
