HI-LO dives deeper into the techno realm as he releases his debut EP ‘Hypnos’ on Adam Beyer’s acclaimed Techno label, Drumcode. Hailing from The Netherlands, Dutch future house star Oliver Helden continues to broaden his techno catalog under his alias HI-LO. With a focus on darker sounds with repetitive four on the floor beats, robust kicks, acid, breaks, and certainly not limited to experimental synths, HI-LO is soaring the techno streaming charts as one of the hottest Techno acts.

With successes in his remix of Nina Kraviz’s ‘Skyscrapers’, his releases on Octopus Recordings, Filth on Acid, and his consistent collaborations with Techno powerhouses Reinier Zonneveld, T78, and Will Clarke, HI-LO’s exploration into industrial sounds continue to broaden. With many successes on his previous releases on leading techno labels is no surprise to see his works blazing a trail on the Drumcode label.

HI-LO’s ‘Hypnos’ two-track EP includes ‘Hera’ and “Hypnos’, both very effective and infectious tracks that certainly will keep you glued to the dancefloor.

‘Hera’ begins with a robust intro as kicks welcome listeners to a faint build-up that immediately highlights the track’s composition of snares that tremble their way into a discord of open and closed hats. The track continues to cede into bold kicks producing that distinct warehouse sound.

‘Hypnos’, the highlight track of the EP immediately harbors kicks that entice listeners to a chasm of deep, amplified snares that continue to rise. Faint kicks dribble into closed hats, complimented by a reverb that coils listeners back to an ensemble of snares.

Being a regular supporter of the Drumcode catalog, Helden continues to share Drumcode tracks on his Heldeep Radio Show and during sets. The support is reciprocated as Adam Beyer has played Helden’s track ‘Poseidon’ in many of his sets, encouraging Helden to send him demos. It is no surprise to see the two talents come together. Both earning a prominent musical identity in the techno verse, it is only expected to see these masterminds collaborate soon.
