Over the past decade, Andrew Bayer has become one of Anjunabeats‘ most recognizable and popular artists. He has influenced the trance genre and navigating the label‘s direction for the future. Over the past year, Andrew has been working on a film project. In fact, the film will finally arrive for the fans on Friday, June 30th. The film, No Silence, is a joint collaborative project by Andrew Bayer himself, Anjunabeats and Amazon Music. No Silence is an autobiography of Andrew’s career which discusses in-depth about the intimate and personal topics of death, love, self-discovery, being LBGTQ+, and musicality.

Andrew Bayer describes in No Silence how his music ties in with his life

As a film synopsis for No Silence, Bayer says,“I used to separate myself from my artist career, but as my career has progressed, I’ve tried to present myself more authentically and really encapsulate what it means to be myself in my music.”

In 2010, while studying at Berklee College of Music, Andrew joined Above & Beyond in London. It was there where he collaborated closely with the legendary trance group. Furthermore, he spent seven life-changing years in London as he continued building up his solo career and encountering personal challenges. A couple of those challenges included his brother’s illness and coming out to his family. Andrew got stranded in London due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland and later experienced isolation and grief. However, he eventually found love and support when he came out to his family and later met his current husband, Allan.

Recent life experiences influencing the music

The love and acceptance that Andrew Bayer has experienced over the years deeply influenced his music. His music style transformed from negative emotions into a celebration of love and joy. Andrew’s own album, In My Last Life, spoke in grand volumes about the importance of collaboration, self-expression, celebrating friendships, the queer community, and the love he had found.

With his latest double album, Duality (available here), Andrew’s pursuit is to display his authentic self. By doing that, he merges alternative, pop, and club dance genres while heightening LGBTQ+ voices. The songwriting collaborations, like the one with Alison May and Asbjørn, created an intimate and trusting process. These collaborations allow Andrew to embrace himself and shine multiple spotlights on dance music’s unsung heroes—the songwriters.
