Here we have a story of two young lads linking up with The Minster of Sound, Ron Carroll for a spirited house release that could wash the walls of a warehouse rave or keep the golden hour vibes sky high.
Soleil Carrillo and KELLARI, long time studio mates have grew up around house music within the Carrillo Music family and following successful early releases, certified Traxsource Weekend Weapons, and the magic struck during their performances at Amsterdam Dance Event this year the new kids on the block got the nod to produce the beats to accompany Rod Carroll’s legendary vocals for a single titled, ‘Same Vibrations’.
Ron Carroll, Soleil Carrillo, KELLARI Same Vibration [Carrillo Music]Around the release Soleil shares, “The concept of “Same Vibration” encapsulates how similar we all are and that we should not emphasize our differences, but rather what makes us so similar. This sense of unity is much easier to find on the dance floor, where no one cares what anyone else looks or sounds like. On the dance floor, all we care about is the groove and the rhythm. We lose our sense of judgment as we get carried away by the emotion of the music and the dance. This message is needed in a political climate that emphasizes the opposite. Without seeing each other on the same level, people will suffer and hate will continue to flourish. “That’s why we need to emphasize that we’re all on the same vibration.”

Soleil Carrillo, KELLARI
Lets start with two truths and a lie, what are two things that are true about you and one lie? (We will reveal the lie at the end)
Soleil: I produce my music using Ableton. My work has been considered for the Grammys. I played Rifflandia (Victoria’s local festival).
KELLARI: I’ve DJ’ed at Ushuaïa, I can speak Finnish fluently, I produce music on abelton live.
What were some memorable moments during Amsterdam Dance Event this year? Did you meet anyone on the dance floor or backstage?
Soleil: My favorite moments included DJing at Blend XL and NEXT NDSM to crowds that enjoy house music and attending Dennis Ferrer’s Set. It’s always a blessing to DJ in Europe since the house scene is not as appreciated in North America. Dennis Ferrer is a legendary DJ, and I was glad I could see him mix live in the warehouse vibes of WesterUnie.
Oh nice choice, I recall catching Ferrer at Skyline music festival in LA, was glued while catching him for the first time. What are some tracks you are feeling lately?
Soleil: “Trouble” by Flight Facilities and Owl Eyes, “So Cold” by Balu Brigada, “Hey Homie” (Troyboi Remix) by Sofi Tukker. These songs are all over the place in terms of genre. It’s good to keep a diversified taste in music, even as a house producer/DJ. You can always find some aspects in other genres that you can include in your work.
KELLARI: Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of ANOTR’s music. I really like their track “Unlock” that’s on their latest album “On A Trip”. Other than them I’ve been really digging the track “Going Deeper” by Riley(UK) the vocal fits perfectly. Also anything and everything Kidoo produces I just can’t get enough of that dark, groovy, techy vibe.
What is something you have learned or admired about Ron Carroll’s music production?
Soleil: Ron’s voice is super inspiring and easy to fit into a house groove due to the natural, soulful, and optimistic tone he brings to all his projects. KELLARI and I are lucky to work with him on an original and will never take it for granted.
KELLARI: After diving into Ron’s catalog, Soleil and I were able to seamlessly blend his soulful vocals with our unique style of house music. Drawing inspiration from the energy and emotion in his previous records, we crafted a sound that stays true to his essence while giving it our own signature touch. The creative process was all about capturing his vibe and translating it into something fresh, yet familiar—bridging classic soul with modern house grooves. Can’t wait for everyone to hear the result!
Soleil, how has playing the cello translated into producing electronic music for you? What are some of your favorite lessons in music theory?
Soleil: Having played the cello, I had a basic understanding of dynamics, intonation, rhythm, and scales. This made producing electronic music much more straightforward than an inexperienced musician because I knew which notes could work together and which would cause dissonance.
I took a music composition course at the University of Victoria, and my favorite discussion pertained to creating tension in a piece. This can be achieved in several ways, but my favorite way is to use a quiet high string during a build-up section that gets slightly louder as the build-up progresses. A high string vibrates faster than a low string, which allows humans to interpret it as something coming to relieve that tension.
What are the latest developments from the Pulsify Collective?
Soleil: We plan on recording more live sets from various locations in and around Vancouver Island to showcase what Pulsify is all about. We are also discussing throwing a house-exclusive event in Victoria with some clubs. Recently, a fellow DJ, Kimbz, ran an Open Decks in Victoria but is too busy to host them anymore. We are in talks to take up that role to help out aspiring DJs in Victoria.
Any remixes in the works?
Soleil: I have plenty of remixes for release this coming year. Many are remixes of originals that Carrillo Music will release throughout the year. I have a remix for KELLARI’s original record, “I Feel Like,” on March 21st. Additionally, I will be releasing edits of popular songs of today and the past on SoundCloud. So far this year, I have remixed The Cataracs and Dev’s “Bass Down Low.” I plan on releasing that soon.
Soleil, what was your contribution for Eric Redd’s ‘Tears Don’t Cry’?
Soleil: I remixed Eric Redd’s original “Green Eyes,” which was selected for the main album release. It is a laid-back house track with lots of melodic influence from Eric’s vocal delivery. I was glad I could contribute to a project that had been under consideration by the Grammys.
What do you say to Trump trying to make Canada a part of the US?
Soleil: Stop! Canada has its own unique culture that should not be erased simply because Trump wants to make the USA an imperialist country again. I appreciate my free healthcare and lack of gun violence.
What are you excited about this week and the coming weeks ahead?
Soleil: I am excited to put out our lyric video for Same Vibration this week, especially since Same Vibration will also be available for download exclusively on Traxsource this coming Friday, February 7th.
In the coming weeks, I look forward to seeing Maesic, an up-and-coming afro house DJ from Paris, France, perform in Victoria. The week after, Same Vibration will be released on all platforms, and I DJ on the same day as the release!
KELLARI: This week, I’m heading to Capital Ballroom in Victoria, BC, to catch Kettama live—super hyped for this one! His high-energy sets and raw house sound always hit different, so I can’t wait to experience it in person. On the music front, I’m thrilled to announce that my original single, “I Feel Like,” is set to drop this March on Carrillo Music! This track has been in the works for a while, and I can’t wait to finally share it with you all. More details coming soon…
But that’s not all—April is going to be next level. I’ll be heading to Ibiza for the International Music Summit (IMS) with the Carrillo team! This will be my first time on the island, and I couldn’t be more excited to connect with artists, labels, and industry pros in one of the most legendary music destinations in the world.
KELLARI, What did you like about Kebab & Cream addition to ‘Same Vibration’? What can you share about them?
Yeah! Shout out Kebab & Cream! I love the disco elements they added while keeping it housy with the drums. Overall the record just makes you feel good and makes you want to get up and boogie. That’s what they’re all about.
What is one lesson or chapter in a philosophy book that stands out to you?
KELLARI, From the legendary Rick Rubin’s book The Creative Act: A Way of Being he talks about breaking the sameness. For example, trying to write a song for your favorite artist. It’s a way to depersonalize the music from yourself and get out of the box.
What is one life philosophy you like to live by?
KELLARI, Obsession is going to always beat talent.
‘One Day’ is a tune! Can you share a little about the production techniques and sound design for ‘One Day’?
KELLARI: Thank you! For ‘One Day’ I used the magical max for live plugin called sting and helps me flip through different rhythms to find the perfect vibe for basslines. I am also a big user of Tantra 2 to add fun glitch style sounds.
Any friends that you met on the dance floor that you want to shout out?
Yes! shout out to all the friends I made on my solo trip to Europe summer 2023 at all the different parties I went to. Everyone at Tomorrowland David, Deny, Tina, Phillippe, Olivia. Also shout out to David “Drunken Yachts 4 life” we met at a boat party in Croatia.
[LIES]
Soleil just wishes he DJ at Rifflandia and KELLARI’s wishes he DJ’ed at Ushuaïa.
