With much chatter amongst the underground fans couldn’t wait to cram inside the doors of Dallas’s new EDM facility. Dropping plenty of hints and sneak peaks on various social medias SILO Dallas enlisted a barrage of heavy hitters in its opening months. Two sold out night’s of Tiësto was just what the doctor ordered to kick this party off right.

Steaming from a large ominous looking building located in the heart of Dallas’ warehouse district, Silo Dallas is the premier new night club in the city. Paying homage to the once underground rave culture, The Silo is a perfect balance of an old school feel with a modern touch.

Promptly named the Silo after the building being an old grain silo in the 50’s, this state of the art venue is coming in hot.

With sound quality that will blast you to the back of the room, along with 3 Massive LED screen’s behind the DJ booth, this new venue is the breath of fresh air Dallas’ dance culture enthusiast were craving. Thursday through Sunday this spacious new warehouse is selling out weekend after weekend. After attending Grand opening weekend myself I quickly understood why.

Teaming up with Disco Presents they’re surely letting their presence be known with acts like DJ Snake, Black Coffee, Lilly Palmer, Galantis, and many more are schedule for the upcoming months. Going full throttle this new premier dance outlet is causing some real ruckus with in the dance community.

Grand Opening Night

After fighting through the back streets I eventually found the venue and approached the valet stand. Only $30 and no headache to wonder the streets afterwards trying to find my car I handed over the keys. Doors opened at 9pm. Even though the sold out crowd wrapped around the side of the building the line moved smoothly and rather fast. Upon entrance the dark under glow of the building was invigorating. Huge pillars towered throughout the inside of the building.

An opener had already been spinning as I came through the door, followed by one more before the headlining act. Soaking in the ambiance I stood peacefully as the 2nd act began to get situated. I was thoroughly impressed by the generational diversity amongst the crowd. From 20 something year olds in bedazzled cowboy hats, to recently divorced Dads wearing Audemar wrist watches, it sure was an unconventional bunch, with myself fitting somewhere strangely in between.

Let’s get down to business

At 12am sharp an energetic older gentleman burst on to the stage and began to set up.”Oh you’ve never seen Tiësto before. You’re in for a real treat.” A nice gentleman had told me as I was in line for the bar.

And indeed it was. Retreating back to position of stage right, straddling the dance and standing area I was in position to ride the Tiesto wave. Spanning across so many decades of music Mr. Tiesto had a wide array of hits to choose from.

Playing numerous hits off his most recent album Drive, the energy in the room exploded. There’s a reason this man is considered one of the Godfathers of EDM. Captivated by the sheer majesty of this Dutchman’s legacy, I remained stuck in place for 2 hours straight. Going on a journey through trance, deep house and techno Tiësto’s genre bending was nothing short a roller coaster ride. Remaining as energetic as he started, he took his backwards cap off and tossed into the crowd upon finishing his set. Damn… I hope I move that well at 55 I thought as I awoke from the musical dreamland.

The Silo Dallas Upcoming Event

Dropping new headliners every week on there social medias the Silo Dallas is quickly making a name for itself. With that being said if you happen to be in the Dallas area and are looking for a place to boogie then look no further. Assigning Diplo the task of ringing in the new year, I’m sure it’ll be nothing short of a miracle. So turn on your GPS, wind down those back streets and sneak in the back door cause it’s time to dance to the max.
