After meeting the Incendia crew during a late night at Hulaween in 2015, it was only time before we would write about them again. This time comes at the introduction of Anton Tumas, the man behind Love Long Beach Music Festival and Subtract, the largest supplier of sound on the west coast and genuinely some of the best house music parties in the world on the Long Beach pier.

You will have to listen to Herman Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur and Anton Tumas syncing up a Burning Man 2022, and dive deeper into this style of music. But first sample a rare EP release from Anton Tumas titled ‘Dreaming’ with Dave DK on Endless Records.

As a conduit of the sound experience, it was a privilege to get to understand the inter-workings of such refined music and Subtrack’s sound system for Love Long Beach Festival 2024 as we chatted with Anton.

What we discovered from Anton is coveted and to keep the mystery of his wizardly sound alive but offering a taste, we can safely share that the progressive house Anton offers comes from the classic trance world, think Sasha for one and the adventure continues from there. Combining the subtle intricacies of the original trance and the unquestionably riveting rhythms of today’s house music gathers the energy and beauty to sink your teeth into, get lost in the journey and truly blow you away.

What makes his events so revered is SUBTRACT’s quality of sound boosted by Function-Ones and Danley Sound Labs. As you should find, Anton Tumas is curating the best stages for LLB, because of the capacity of his sound, not overriding the audio. One key element is simply more, more top-notch speakers to tune the best possible sound, letting every speaker play their role as if a member of an orchestra that has traveled galaxies to perform for us.

From what Anton shared, we discovered that another key to the evolution of sound is education, more people fully-capable of  handling sound with authority. We can only imagine the quality of sound that will be possible years from now and Anton is at the forefront of that expedition.

Anton Tumas has releases on All Day I Dream, among other reputable labels, cut his teeth at LA’s clubs, desert parties like Moontribe and Burning Man, where he’s played everything from Robot Heart to DISTRIKT and Mayan Warriors (who just announced their return), plus made festival appearances at Lightning in a Bottle, Desert Hearts, Further Future and Woogie Weekend.
