Sunset Music Festival

Tampa, FL | May 29 – 30, 2021

2021 Headliners: 12th Planet | Destructo| Green Velvet | Seven Lions

Venue: Sunset Music Festival takes place in Downtown Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium. The is a true city fest and does not include camping which means you will need to find a hotel within the city. Although this venue doesn’t have nature elements (mostly dirt & patches of grass), the amazing stage setups and effects make up for it.

Reputation: Sunset Music Festival is known to bring big names to Tampa each year. The lineup usually consists of house, bass, techno, and trance performers and utilizes multiple stages. SMF features some of the most jaw-dropping video and audio production in the Southeast. 

Atmosphere: Get ready for the HEAT! As to be expected the heat can be intense as it is summertime in Florida. Be sure to bring water and a fan to keep yourself cool. 

Beyond Wonderland

San Bernardino, CA | June 18 – 19, 2021

Venue: Beyond Wonderland has moved around quite a bit since its first year in 2010. This year, it will be back at its original venue, the National Orange Show Events Center (NOS) in San Bernardino, CA. You will experience four permanent stages and two roaming stages, each one drawing you into a different chapter of Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Reputation: Beyond Wonderland has been growing in popularity for the last ten years, and this year has more hype than ever before. BW is known to bring the big names in-house, trance, dubstep, drum & bass, and all of today’s dance music.

Price:  2-day GA tickets will run you about $140, but for $100 more you can experience the VIP treatment. For GA tickets, you must be +18. To buy the VIP ticket and experience, you must be +21.

Airbeat One

Neustadt-Glewe Airfield, Germany | July 7 – 11, 2021

COVID-19 Safety Plan: Electric Love organizers continue to update their plans based on regulations. At this time they are not requiring vaccines or testing, but they do encourage it. The size of the festival will not be reduced due to the pandemic. 

Price: There is a variety of pricing options available depending on what you’re looking for. Currently, General Admissions tickets are available for €146. They do offer VIP tickets, 1-day passes, and extra camping add-ons. In addition, they have Wednesday’s pre-party tickets for around €25.

Parookaville

Airport Weeze, Germany | July 16-18, 2021

Venue: Parookaville takes place in an old military airport in Weeze Germany, right at the border of the Netherlands. Each year, this airport is turned into Parookaville, a “city” that comes to life each year to celebrate the founder, Bill Parooka. This surreal city is divided into districts, each a different part of the mythical town that has new and exciting art and music to offer. Countless sets, stages, and buildings are created to form a utopia. The town is even complete with its own Town Hall, where citizens can pick up their own Parookaville passport and stamp.

Reputation: Parookaville is much younger than many other festivals but is already a festival beacon in Germany and a highly popular destination worldwide. Since its beginning in 2015, Parookaville has added tens of thousands of attendees, shooting from 25,000 to 80,00 in just three short years. The best thing about the festival is its ability to give people the greatest sets, amenities, and experiences Germany has to offer. This has quickly made it one of the must-attend festivals of the year.

Atmosphere: Bill Parooka founded the festival with the vision to “celebrate the joy of life.” The festival has certainly stayed true to its roots because it’s impossible to not feel the joy of life while immersed in this magical pop-up city. The founding father has made sure that the citizens of his city remain happy while there, providing everything needed for a good time from drool-worthy headliners to the basic needs and amenities that fill the districts of Parookaville. You will find yourself at home here with a supermarket, swimming pool, countless food vendors, and even a barber and tattoo parlor all available onsite. Your fellow citizens will also provide the energy you need because everyone is required to abide by the city’s laws – “Madness, Love, and Pure Happiness.”

COVID-19 Safety Plans: Festival organizers released a statement that stated, “We are ready. And we wouldn’t do anything rather than finally be able to party, laugh and dance with you again. However, since a PAROOKAVILLE in July is becoming increasingly unlikely, we are currently looking into moving the festival to September.”

Price: Single-day passes are starting at €95, and full weekend tickets are starting at €209. If this festival is something you’re dying to do this year, act fast! The tickets may not be there for long!

Electric Forest

Rothbury, MI | August 2021

Venue: Rothbury in gorgeous western Michigan, has been Electric Forest’s home since 2011 and is still welcoming friends of the Forest onto its land. Atmosphere: One of the top things we love about EF is the absolute passion that goes into creating a loving atmosphere. EF brings art to life with costumed butterfly people, interactive “portals”, moving sculptures, and more. Each time you turn your head, it seems like there is something new to experience. EF also prides itself on having a safe environment where people can express themselves freely. Plus with their program Electricology, the festival is moving toward environmental sustainability. EF has a way of leading you to where you are meant to be, whether that means crossing paths with your soulmate, bonding with new and old friends, or even just getting to know your true, inner self.

COVID-19 Safety Plan: Forest HQ stated, “Here is what we know for the moment. HQ is working tirelessly to navigate our potential options for 2021, and discussions with all parties involved are ongoing. If Electric Forest 2021 is to happen, it will take place in August.”

Sziget Festival

Budapest, Hungary | August 2021

Venue: Sziget Festival is located on Óbuda Island, an island in the Danube river in Budapest, Hungary. A festival on an island seems almost too good to be true, yet Sziget Festival is as real as the Post Festival Depression you’ll experience immediately after leaving the island. The festival considers its venue the Island of Freedom leading the #LoveRevolution.

Reputation: Sziget Festival is a past winner of the Best Major European Festival award. The festival boasts a 7-day long, multi-genre lineup. Despite its reputation as a prominent rock festival, Sziget also features reggae, hip-hop, indie, and EDM. Sziget Festival becomes the premier party central in Hungary every time it comes around.

Atmosphere: Simply put, Sziget Festival is the place to party. It’s also the place where your wildest dreams can come to life, and we don’t mean that figuratively! Sziget Festival asks its fans to wish for artists and bands they want to see at the festival.

COVID-19 Safety Plan: Safety Plans have not yet been posted for Sziget Festival.

Price: You can get a regular 7-Day pass to Sziget Festival for approximately €€339. If you are not able to experience the entire 7 days, there are packages available for 1, 3, and 5 days as well. The festival also offers upgraded camping, luxurious glamping, exclusive entry to private boat parties, and add-on services to suit the specific needs of all their fans.

Creamfields

Daresbury, Cheshire, England | August 26 – 29, 2021

2021 Headliners: Above & Beyond | Carl Cox | Eric Prydz | Tiesto

Venue: This festival has traveled throughout England for years, and is now taking place in Daresbury, a small village in Cheshire, England. This is the home of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland) author, Lewis Carroll! Creamfields is another sunny, summer fest hosted outdoors at a large camping resort. It offers plenty of sunbathing and napping opportunities in between sets and always allows plenty of room for crowds in front of their stages. In 2018, Creamfield created SILO, the festival’s first 360-degree arena-style stage.

Reputation: Creamfields has been known to kill it in cutting-edge production, and always offers something new and innovative to its audience. The festival is constantly outdoing itself and exceeds even the most devoted fans’ expectations with bigger and better stages, lineups, and exquisite camping options each year.

Atmosphere: Creamfields has so much to offer and is an essential festival to attend no matter your style. With gorgeous scenery, big open spaces, pristine camping sites, jaw-dropping stages, and impressive lineups, this festival will never disappoint. They outdo themselves every year, and the air of this festival is filled with energy and excitement for what’s to come.

COVID-19 Safety Plans: The event will be following government guidelines regarding all face coverings. More details will be released closer to the event.

Price: Creamfields was the first large music festival to announce its return in 2021 during the pandemic. With that, all tickets sold out within 12 hours!

Mysteryland

Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands | August 27 – 29, 2021

Venue: The universe of Mysteryland is hidden amongst captivating fields, forests, and lakes of the Floriade Terrain in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands, just 15 miles from Amsterdam. Mysteryland holds the crown for the longest-running EDM festival in the world, and it shows. This is a team that you can trust to give you one of the greatest times of your life.

Atmosphere: Simply put, Mysteryland is the ultimate party and transports you into the next realm of reality. Being in this land, you will lose track of time and totally lose yourself in the moment – each perfect, dazzling moment – where you are surrounded by nature, art, music, and like-minded travelers all there to soak up the mysteries of life. This place radiates pure joy and is a place where all the colorful people of the world can come together and celebrate the love and friendship that music forms.

Tomorrowland

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

Manchester, TN | September 2 – 5, 2021

Venue: Bonnaroo takes place at Great Stage Park, and close to 100,000 fans gather in the rolling countryside of Manchester, TN to celebrate the joys of life through music, art, entertainment, and friendship. Be sure to walk around and take in the camping scene; depending on where you ended up, there could be a party you want to join!

Reputation: For many festival-goers, Bonnaroo feels like a second home. Good feelings and positive vibes are constantly flowing through the park, allowing everyone to feel like they can truly be themselves. Something about Bonnaroo makes everyone a little bit kinder, and everyone is treated like family. With that, families and children ARE allowed into this event. Bonnaroo, like many music festivals, believes that nobody should have to be left out because of age, sexual orientation, gender, or ethnicity. This festival does a great job of maintaining intimacy on such as large scale, while also making you feel like you’ve stepped into a different world.

Atmosphere: You quite literally can’t run out of new things to do at Bonnaroo. The 4 days are packed full of fun activities to get you in the festival spirit! Start the morning off right with an early morning yoga class. Visit some campground plazas around the venue! Inside, you can find parties, art, wifi, charging stations, and more!

COVID-19 Safety Plans: The festival team says, “We have taken enhanced health and safety measures for you, our artists, and employees. You must follow all posted instructions while attending Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.” No official plans have been released as of yet.

Price: A 4-Day General Admission ticket to Bonnaroo starts at $380 and increases from there. That’s a pretty fair price for 4 days! And we know that money can’t buy you happiness, but buying a Bonnaroo ticket is the closest you’re going to get.

Electric Zoo

New York City, NY | September 3 – 5, 2021

2021 Headliners: Steve Aoki | LSDream | Illenium | Zeds Dead | Rezz

Venue: Electric Zoo is held on Randall’s Island, resting on the East River in NYC. It is a field of freshly-trimmed grass, making a comfortable surface for ravers who want to sit down and feel the sensations of the bass beneath the soil. A backdrop of New York City’s impressive skyline can be found over the horizon, which at night becomes a great light-up display to view through festival diffraction or kaleidoscope glasses.

Reputation: One of the Zoo’s most noticeable traits is its diverse fan base. Being inside New York City, EZoo tends to attract ravers from all different backgrounds and cultures. It’s common for international ravers to make Electric Zoo a destination on their trip to the United States, making it clear that it is a worldwide phenomenon and worth of the title of one of the best. If you are living outside the United States, don’t feel left out! The festival continues to expand internationally. So far, you can catch EZoo in Mexico, Japan, Brazil, and China.

Atmosphere: It’s not easy creating a peaceful atmosphere while neighboring Manhattan, yet EZoo manages to block out the bustling city and replace it with tunes from some of the biggest artists in the game. As Billboard Magazine states, “Electric Zoo might not be the country’s largest, splashiest, or most hyped electronic dance music festival. But we’re going to go on record and say that it’s the best.” Journey to a place where the standards of society can’t touch you and become your truest, happiest self.

Imagine Music Festival

Chattahoochee Hills, GA | September 17 – 19, 2021

Venue: After 7 years in Atlanta, Imagine Festival will be moving to a new venue. Imagine Festival will take place at the Bouckaert Farm, in the City of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. This venue has hosted other electronic music festivals in the past including the US Tomorrowworld.

Reputation: With the ability to host over 60,000 people, Imagine Music Festival has quickly made a name for itself as one of the top electronic music festivals in the South. While simultaneously booking some of the best talents in the industry, the festival adds unique features and yearly improvements to provide its festival-goers with the best of an aquatic, musical wonderland.

Atmosphere: Experience an aquatic adventure at Imagine Music Festival. Enjoy some of the best acts in electronic music, and explore transformational workshops, live art, circus acts, yoga classes, silent discos, and more! Each stage is equipped with large visual displays, performers, lasers, and other production features to give you an amazing sensory overload. Lounge and rave, relax and go crazy. Imagine Music Festival has something for everyone.

Lost Lands Festival

Thornville, OH | September 24 – 26, 2021

Previous Headliners: Excision | Slander | Zeds Dead | 12th Planet

Venue: Lost Lands, located in Thornville, Ohio, is described as a “bass music and camping festival of prehistoric proportions”. The Legend Valley campground is located in the countryside, so the festival blasts the music as loud as it can (1 million+ watt of bass)! Though Lost Lands is smaller than a lot of United States festivals, the number of attendees is almost 35x the number of residents in Thornville!

Reputation: Lost Lands is quickly becoming a festival favorite all across the nation. With its creation in 2017, the amount it has grown in just three short years seems outlandish. Yet in 2019, Lost Lands sold out for the first time with an estimated 35,000 tickets. Just because they are new doesn’t mean they can’t compete with the big leagues! The festival creator and EDM artist Excision really knows what he’s doing.

Atmosphere: The only way to describe Lost Lands is that everyone is in the best mood ever all 3 days. The music is hardcore with lots of heavy dubstep, the kind of music that you can headbang all day and night to. Because of this, Lost Lands is popular among seasoned festival-goers. Hang out with some dinos, and get lost in the music!

Amsterdam Dance Event

Amsterdam, Netherlands | October 13 – 17, 2021

Previous Headliners: Richie Hawtin | Tchami | Malaa | Markus Schulz

Venue: Amsterdam Dance Event is such a big event for the area that it takes over the entire city… literally. This event spreads throughout Amsterdam, with stages and shows taking place in 140 of Amsterdam’s best and most popular music and nightlife venues. From the HERTZ Silent Disco Club to Amsterdam’s Infamous Centraal Station, there is somewhere to go and someone to see at any given location during the 5-day festival.

Reputation: Being one of the most distinctive and unique events of its genre, Amsterdam Dance Events actually has two sides to it: it is both an EDM Business Conference and Festival. This Festival brings music professionals and enthusiasts alike from all over the world to network, share, and simply celebrate all aspects of the music industry.

Atmosphere: This experience is the perfect event for anyone and everyone who has a passion for the EDM industry, offering pop-up events all over Amsterdam to celebrate not just the music that brings so many people together, but also the best in art, film, photography, and music. From 3 PM to 3 AM, you can be assured that there something for everyone in the squad, from the CEO to the Rave Babe of the group.

COVID-19 Safety Plan: ADE is working closely with the municipality of Amsterdam to present the best possible experience while following public health guidelines set by the Dutch government. Exact details will be released closer to the event date.

Price: A 4-Day Conference Pass for €300, a 5-Day + Night Pass for €450, and a total package pass that includes a hotel stay for €550.

EDC Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV | October 22 – 24, 2021

Venue: Conveniently located within 15 miles of the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway offers its 1,200-acres for ravers to gather under the electric sky. The radiance of eight massive stages can be felt way beyond the festival grounds, letting the outside world know what it’s missing out on. Reputation: EDC Las Vegas is essentially a raver’s PARADISE. Not only is it considered one of the biggest EDM festivals in the world, but there are also plenty of things to do and see that will indulge your senses. This includes some of the craziest stage productions in the history of live entertainment. If this is your first time going to EDC Las Vegas, don’t be surprised if you shed a happy tear or two. Enjoy one of the most well-known festivals of all!

Atmosphere: From the moment you step foot into its enchanted fields, you have escaped the confines of logic and society! Inside EDC Vegas, time only serves to signal the start of a new set. The people, the live performances, the actors, the art… all of these things combined leave you questioning reality. But above all, the memories you make and the bonds you create with other ravers will remain as part of you for the rest of your life. This will be an experience you will never forget.

COVID-19 Safety Plan: Originally EDC confirmed their event for May 21-23, but they had to make the decision to postpone the event until October after the county posted new vaccine requirements. 

Price: General Admission tickets for 2021 start at $380 USD with VIP Camping passes going up to $1,400 USD. EDC is one of those festivals that sell out quickly each year and this year is no exception. Don’t lose hope yet though because you can be put on the waitlist! If anyone is unable to attend this year, they can roll their pass over to next year.

Are You Ready to Return to a Music Festival?

As many know, this isn’t even a fraction of the festivals that the EDM world has to offer, but these are the ones that stand out and are making plans to return in 2021 post-pandemic. New festivals continue to emerge throughout the world, and that’s why this year isn’t like the last and won’t be like the next!

Just remember, the EDM community was built on love and respect so be sure to stay safe & healthy and look out for one another. If you aren’t comfortable retuning to a large event yet, that is okay! There will be more to attend next year.
