The 2021 Spotify Wrapped Experience is back: What were your most streamed in the app?

Spotify Wrapped is back in full force! Released in early December every year since 2016, the viral marketing campaign allows Spotify users to view a compilation of data about their activity on the platform over the past year, then invites them to share their personalized picks on social media. Today, December 1, the music streaming giant has unveiled the top 2021 artists, albums, songs, podcasts, and more that defined how more than 381 million users around the globe listened to audio in their platform.

For the second year running, Bad Bunny takes the title of most-streamed artist in the world on Spotify. More impressive is this: The Puerto Rican Reggaeton star has received over 9.1 billion streams, all without even releasing as album on the year. He is followed closely by Taylor Swift, whose Red (Taylor’s Version) gave her superfans a reason to relive the artist’s early groundbreaking work. Rounding out 2021’s top three is K-pop sensation BTS. The globally beloved boy band had a standout year thanks to their single “Butter.” Canadian hip-hop artists also dominated the Top 5 with Drake, who released Certified Lover Boy in September, and Justin Bieber, whose 2021 album Justice featured high-powered collaborations with countless global pop stars. They reign in spots four and five, respectively.

The top song of 2021 globally is Olivia Rodrigo’s runaway “drivers license,” which garnered over 1.1 billion streams worldwide, with Lil Nas X’s viral “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” from his first studio LP coming in second. Ranking on the esteemed list for the first time is The Kid LAROI with his Justin Bieber collaboration “STAY” taking third. The fourth spot finds Olivia Rodrigo once again, this time with “good 4 u,” which also earned the title of 2021 Spotify Song of the Summer. Rising to the fifth spot was Dua Lipa’s Levitating (feat. DaBaby).”
