Marking two years since the world lost the truly inspiring and game-changing spirit Tony Cook, Koven and Flux Pavilion have released I’m Delighted – a posthumous Cookie Monsta collaboration with all proceeds going to his son.
Tragically losing his life to mental health on October 2 2020, Tony Cook touched millions of music fans’ lives and inspired a generation of producers as one of the most prominent and innovative artists on Circus Records. I’m Delighted was the next evolution of his sound and marked a new evolution of his music. Sadly he never got to see it completed.
“Tony loved cinematic music and always wanted to write it, that was the concept behind this record,” states Circus co-founder Flux Pavilion. “He had been struggling with writing, so I was like, ‘What do you want to do? Let’s just do that.”
Renowned for their cinematic production dynamic and heavily emotive song-writing narratives, the inclusion of Max and Katie Koven sealed the deal. “The craziest thing for me is the emotion, when Katie sent that vocal, both Tony and I were blown away,” Flux continues. “Then to come back and work on it posthumously, it became an incredibly deep and meaningful process for Katie, Max and myself.”
“Shortly before he passed away, the last text Tony sent me was replying about this track, he said, ‘Gorgeous, analogue as f*ck.’ When we came back to finishing the song, that was all the guidance we needed to finish it off the way he would have wanted.”
Katie Koven has gone online with a similarly heartfelt message and thoughts about the track. “Flux came to us with the idea of finishing the track as a tribute to Tony,” they state. “We were very touched. We are honoured to have worked on this track in his memory.”
The end result is a beautiful and heartfelt salute to Tony’s energy and commitment to this music and bass music culture which will also provide some security for his young family. All proceeds and royalties of the track will go to his son Oliver.
“To finally release I’m Delighted is a bittersweet moment,” state Circus Records. “It’s tough for us all to go back to a piece of music that was born in the final few months of our friend and brother’s journey. But it is a wonderful, emotionally charged song and the world deserves to hear it. Flux Pavilion and Koven were very clear that their royalties for the song should go to Oliver, Cookie‘s son, Circus Records will do the same.”
Enjoy the track below and find it on other platforms here. A powerful, euphoric but ultimately heavy hearted piece of work, it transcends genres and dancefloors and hits the soul. Cookie Monsta Rest In Peace.
