Californian artist Ice Cube has shared about his upcoming solo album, ‘Man Down,’ marking his return to solo music after a five-year gap.
During a conversation with Public Enemy’s Chuck D on his RAPstation podcast, he revealed that he’s in the final stages of completing his next album and intends to release it very soon.

Cube expressed, “I’m working on an album that hopefully I can finish in the next couple of weeks and schedule to put it out. I’m digging what I’m doing. The name of the record is called ‘Man Down,’ and, you know, it’s a pretty good record. I like it. It’s dope.”
“Man Down” will be the first solo album from Ice Cube since 2018’s “Everythang’s Corrupt,” where he continued to display his political defiance on songs like “Arrest The President“. Following that release, he joined forces with Too $hort, E-40, and Snoop Dogg to form the hip-hop supergroup Mount Westmore.
In that conversation, Cube also reflected on his career and how it has influenced the person he is today, emphasizing that he made a promise to himself not to let the music business change who he is as a person. He highlighted his willingness to face challenges and not worry about potential consequences, emphasizing that returning to a less affluent state wasn’t a deterrent for him when he was starting out.
“When you’re broke when you’re starting off, going back to being broke is not an issue. That’s not motivation, like ‘I’m going to be broke again, let me bow down to this bullshit.’ No,” Cube affirmed.
