Bob Marley has achieved something remarkable once again with his compilation album ‘Legend’ from 1984. It has made history by being on the Billboard 200 chart for 800 weeks.
This makes it the first reggae album to achieve this feat. Forbes recently confirmed this achievement and noted that ‘Legend’ is only the second album to do so. The first album to accomplish this was Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon‘ from 1974.

The album includes some of Marley’s iconic songs like ‘No Woman No Cry,’ and ‘Three Little Birds’. It has been reissued thrice since its original release. One of them includes a special edition for its 30th anniversary, featuring versions of Punky Reggae Party and Easy Skanking.
Actually, the accomplishment comes 42 years after Bob Marley’s death in 1981 due to cancer. To honor this legendary reggae artist, Island Records released ‘Legend’ as a Greatest Hits record.
This news coincides with the 50th anniversary of Bob Marley and The Wailers’ fifth studio album, ‘Catch A Fire,’ which is considered the album that brought reggae to international prominence.
A reissue of this record will be available on November 3 this year, featuring a special edition 3CD set and 3LP vinyl set for pre-order.
Now, Bob Marley’s Legend became the first reggae album to chart on The Billboard 200 For 800 weeks. ‘Legend’ is widely recognized as the best-selling reggae album of all time and has achieved multi-platinum status in 10 countries. In the United States, it has gone 15 times platinum, selling over 15 million copies since its release.
