SubDocta shares his new Almost Cool EP through BTSM’s label, offering five tracks that move through house, dubstep, and drum & bass in a direct, accessible way.
“Compliments” opens the project with a house pattern shaped around a steady groove. “Delulu,” with Mport, brings in a heavier bass line and more flexible rhythms. “Bodies” changes direction with a drum & bass structure that keeps the speed up but stays easy to follow.
The remaining tracks, “Poison Ivy” and “Girls,” close out the EP by revisiting earlier moods and tying the project together. The sequencing keeps things simple and makes the transitions between genres feel smooth rather than abrupt.
Across all five tracks, the focus stays on movement. The production choices are clean, the themes are straightforward, and each track holds its own space without overreaching.
SubDocta is a legend in his own right, with this being a great and natural step for this veteran and – to many extents – pioneer. With more music and show dates on the way, the journey continues.
