Maxolydian is back with an exciting new release for listeners. Released on the 6th of May 2025 Maxolydian’s fourth studio album Islas, explores a mixture of electronic soundscapes. Set out with the ambition to create unique electronic music unbound by the restrictions of genre, Maxolydian blends elements of ambient, drum and bass, breaks and melodic IDM. Recorded in one take at Pirquenfell Studios in the Andes mountains near Santiago, Chile, and mixed and mastered at Tricone Studios in Berlin, Islas is a unfiltered exploration of life’s transitions, set to the backdrop of Indietronica soundscapes.

Drawing inspiration from the unique lifestyles of Mediterranean islands, the album’s title track, Islas, serves as a metaphor for individuality and the effort required to forge meaningful connections. Other standout tracks include Yoko’s Blues, inspired by Yoko Ono’s dignified vulnerability after John Lennon’s death, and Birds, a piano-loop-driven reflection on migration and homesickness. Tracks like Perdue evoke the melancholy of leaving the past behind, while Candiyugo and Eye of Infinity delve into altered perceptions and the vastness of the universe, with Maxolydian’s wife lending her voice to narrate the mysterious recipe in Candiyugo. Recorded without overdubs to preserve the immediacy of the performance, the album prioritizes authenticity over production polish.

“Islas is the soundtrack of closing one chapter to open another,” Maxolydian shares. “I hope listeners feel the courage and hope that come with embracing big changes, and that they’re rewarded by the journey.” Following the critically acclaimed Pirquenfell, Islas cements Maxolydian’s reputation as a sonic storyteller, weaving personal narratives with universal themes. His global travels and diverse experiences infuse the album with a dynamic tension, inviting listeners to both dance and reflect on life’s contradictions.
