Produced at GTM Studio Recording, Tropical Freak moves fluidly through melodic techno, progressive, psychedelic, and tech house. Marking a vibrant milestone in Simone Mecozzi’s 20-year evolution as an electronic producer, the EP explores the intersection of rhythm and emotion, body and mind, technology and nature, each track unfolding like a new tropical landscape.

The project grew from an extensive archive of melodies, basslines, and vocal fragments, revisited during moments of balance and connection with family and surroundings. Over two years of focused work, the EP took shape through sessions split between GTM Recording Studio in Rome and a secluded creative retreat in Sardinia, immersed in nature, far from urban distractions, and close to Mecozzi’s authentic artistic core. The production relies heavily on analog synthesizers, complemented by digital workstations and plug-ins to sculpt rich, layered textures over solid 4/4 grooves. Processed female vocals, gated, reversed, and re-synthesized, form rhythmic patterns that blur the lines between human and machine, creating an organic yet futuristic sound.

Tropical Freak is more than an EP – it’s a sound journey across twenty years of creative evolution. Five tracks that merge melodic techno with psychedelic textures, hypnotic grooves, and an unmistakable tropical pulse. The sound is organic, yet futuristic – built on analog synths, processed voices, and percussive rhythms that invite both movement and introspection. The title track Tropical Freak embodies Gaiatech’s musical philosophy: freedom through rhythm, the liberation of spirit through electronic sound. It’s a tribute to open-air raves, natural landscapes, and the universal language of dance.

Gaiatech is the visionary project of Italian producer and sound designer Simone Mecozzi, a lifelong explorer of sonic frontiers. Starting as a rock guitarist and drummer in the 1980s, Mecozzi entered the electronic underground of the late ’90s as DJ Meko before developing the Gaiatech identity. Fusing analog warmth with forward-thinking sound design, he has spent over two decades crafting immersive, cinematic, and rhythmically alive music. Since 2009, Gaiatech has released numerous works across labels and independent platforms, continually evolving while staying true to one principle: never conform, always create.
