TATE SEDAR Finishes the First Collection of Post-EDM with ‘Dream’

San Francisco-born, Hollywood-based producer TATE SEDAR joins the evolution of electronic music with his debut EP ‘THIS IS POST-EDM’, a collection that crystallizes years of sonic exploration.

Officially rebranding into “post-EDM” in 2024, as SEDAR defines as, “a progressive style of electronic dance music that draws from sounds of the EDM era (2010-2020) and prior while using both analog and digital instrumentation.”

SEDAR’s journey to post-EDM began in childhood, shaped by diverse influences spanning Motown, disco, hip-hop, and rock, with early electronic exposure through a ‘This is Ultimate Dance’ compilation and Dance Dance Revolution. Self-taught since age 10 and later studying at London’s Point Blank Music School, his career reflects a deliberate progression toward a distinctive sonic identity.

The EP represents the culmination of a breakthrough year that saw SEDAR accumulate 500,000 streams on DSPs, secure radioplay for “Our Goodbye,” and perform direct support for R3hab during NYE Weekend with Insomniac Events. 2025 has continued this momentum with an exclusive EP debut at a Los Angeles underground set with FRAMED Events x CO11AB.

As we let TATE SEDAR’s ‘THIS IS POST-EDM’ EP unfold, lets take a closer look at why this litter of tracks marks the beginning of Post-EDM.

Starting with the EP’s cherry on top, ‘Dream’ featuring Otto Palmborg on the top-line vocals premiered on Los Angeles’ KCRW 89.9 FM. ‘Dream’ is shaped with electropop and ballad elements to  exemplify the post-EDM framework. Otto adds his resonating voice that has landed him on Revealed Recordings (Hardwell) and Future House Cloud to make ‘Dream’ truly mainstage material.

‘San Francisco’ named after SEDAR’s hometown, this origin track integrates Motown, hip-hop, and rock influences into a funk and groove-focused sound that represents the early vision of post-EDM through fusion of old and new soundscapes. Following a release with Ghastly P$YCHEDELIC is on ‘Emotions’, SEDAR’s first conscious venture into post-EDM blends house music (tech & bass house) with lofi hip-hop and trap.

For ‘Our Goodbye’ TATE invites Liv Kennedy into the studio for an essential break-up anthem that transforms into an upbeat summer dance pop hit. The track found radio success on terrestrial radio and The Stonebridge Show on BPM (SiriusXM), reaching #18 on Nexus Radio and accumulating over 140k Spotify plays.

While ‘Coming Home I.M.U‘ serves as both homage to SEDAR’s progressive house roots and catalyst for conceptualizing post-EDM as his definitive style, this vocal-driven composition combines guitar riffs with electronic elements to create a heart-warming soundtrack to his origin.

Close out this Post-EDM discovery session by hearing TATE SEDAR pull it all together for his set at Underwar3 SD.
