Announcing Our New Lesson: Drafting Women’s Palazzo Pants

University of Fashion’s lesson on drafting two variations of Palazzo pants: gathered waist and flat waist. (Image credit: UniversityofFashion.com).

History of Palazzo Pants

Palazzo pants have their roots both in menswear and Asian fashion trends, particularly the wide-legged trousers worn by nobility in certain cultures. They really took off for women in the 60s and 70s with the term “palazzo” likely coming from the Italian word for “palace”, associated with grandeur and elegance that reflects the luxurious and sophisticated feel of these wide-leg trousers.
