It’s beginning to look a lot like GRiZMAS…
Detroit native and electronic music icon GRiZ announces the ninth annual ‘12 Days Of GRiZMAS’ charity program benefitting Seven Mile Music. From November 29 to December 10, GRiZ will host a series of events in partnership with local creative outlets and community workshops in order to raise awareness and increase funds for art and music education for Detroit’s Youth, concluding with his two-day GRiZMAS shows at The Masonic Temple.
Raising over $500,000 since 2014 for youth music education, GRiZ works closely with Seven Mile Music, an organization that seeks to bridge access and opportunity for local youth in the arts through after-school and summer camp programming. The program will have its grand opening at the new GRiZMAS HQ pop-up store on Tuesday, November 29, at 5:00 PM in the heart of Downtown Detroit’s Capitol Park at 1265 Griswold Street.
Pop into the official GRiZMAS Workshop to find exclusive GRiZ merchandise and holiday gifts in collaboration with Detroit Rose, and more. The store will also host an ongoing coat and toy drive benefiting St. Vincent de Paul, a charity auction, and donation-based gift-wrapping station. More than just a store, the GRiZMAS Workshop will also include a holiday creation station where fans can customize merch and a lounge area with a coffee bar with free cups of this year’s GRiZMAS coffee.
In an exciting collaboration with Coffeehaus, GRiZ coffee will be releasing a new special GRiZMAS 2022 Roast, a rich Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee with notes of blackberry, peach, and strawberry. This year’s specially designed limited edition 12 oz bag is designed by Detroit artist Morgan McPeak. The 2022 Roast is available at the GRiZMAS Store and online, with 100% of proceeds from every purchase going towards Seven Mile.
Following the grand opening on November 29, the week kicks off with new events, Painting with a SMILE, a guided painting activity hosted by Detroit painter and community leader Phillip Simpson at BIG PINK, and Deluxx Karaoke at Deluxx Fluxx. Day 4 will offer a mystery party with GRiZ performing a secret set in Detroit. The festivities continue through the weekend with a Charity Dodgeball Tournament in partnership with Come Play Detroit at Durfee Elementary School and Community Yoga in the Fountain Ballroom at The Masonic Temple in partnership with Citizen Yoga.
Day 7 invites fans to dance at the Charity Jam with “GRiZ & Friends” at El Club, an intimate experience featuring ProbCause, Chrishira Perrier, Kevin Donahue, Chris Anderson, Josh Fairman, Ian Finkelstein, and special guests. Another new event this year, Community Ice Skating at Michigan’s premiere family-friendly outdoor skating rink at Campus Martius will take place on Day 8. The week continues with Local Mic Night at Willis Show Bar and 80’s zombie-disco-themed Roller Skating hosted by guest Choff at Bonaventure.
The 12 days will conclude with two nights of GRiZMAS concerts from December 9 – 10, featuring performances by Dirtysnatcha b2b Carbin, Wreckno, Canabliss, and Khiva. Fans can RSVP, purchase tickets, and donate here.
