JABBS celebrates sound system culture with title track to forthcoming ‘Nameless’ EP [Premiere]

Street Ritual has become synonymous with the deep dubstep movement on the West Coast. Now the premiere label welcomes Bay-Area music producer JABBS for his soon-to-be-released debut EP, Nameless. The three-track short player is a deep, minimalistic exploration of shifting cultures and dualistic energies. One day ahead of the project’s official release, August 3, we’re thrilled to be premiering the title track on CE.

“Nameless” is a tune that draws listeners into JABBS’s emotive side. Also serving as the lead-off track to the upcoming EP by the same name, it’s a song about feeling things one might not want to feel at times when we need to feel them the most. Throughout this slow and low winding journey, JABBS pulls upon heaving basslines, airy and hypnotic instrumentation, along with a full spectrum of tonalities inspired by JABBS’ roots in reggae music and captivation with underground sound system culture. A highly intentional and grounding track, “Nameless” unites the familiar, menacing, and surreal into an experience primed for the true believers of deep and otherworldly dubstep.

Hailing from Las Vegas and currently residing in Northern California, JABBS has been creating waves in the underground bass scene. A long-time live performer in reggae bands, he found a love for electronic music and has been revitalized as a solo act. With prime-time performances at Big Dub and The Black Box in Denver, this producer/DJ/VJ has been making a name for himself. His work as a nature-focused VJ has brought a lot of attention, in particular, with performances at The Untz Festival and many more events. In only a short time, JABBS has racked up releases on some of bass music’s most illustrious imprints, including Deep Dark & Dangerous, The Gradient Perspective, The Widdfam, and now Street Ritual.

Officially out tomorrow, JABB’s debut EP is an exploration of artist Anthony Jaber’s musical mind in 2022. Finding solace in deep tones, world instruments, and aggressive tones, JABBS aims to generate new energy while staying true to his cultural and musical roots and leaning into dark basslines, raunchy mids, and brilliant highs.
